GLSE Graduate Education Retreat

GLSE Graduate Education Retreat

This year’s Graduate Education Retreat will be held on Monday June 18 from 8:30am – 2:00pm at the Rotman School of Management, 105 St. George Street. By gathering the Graduate Chairs, Graduate Coordinators, and Program Directors across all 13 graduate units, the objective is to learn from each other on common issues that impact our graduate student learners. This year’s theme will be Student Wellness. Given the importance of this issue, we will also be inviting all undergraduate coordinators to this event. Guest speakers include:

  • Professor Bonnie Kirsh, Professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. She was a member of the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s Workforce Advisory Committee and currently holds a CIHR grant to examine student wellness in universities.

  • Rachel Dragas, Co-President of Grad Minds and currently a MSc student in IMS. GradMinds is the Mental Health Advisory Committee of the University of Toronto Graduate Students' Union (UTGSU). The committee was born from the recognition that graduate students face unique challenges, many of which are not being sufficiently addressed, and there is a lack of dedicated services or programs aimed at graduate students’ mental health on campus.

The retreat will include a panel discussion, with a mix of students and faculty, as well as a closing speaker after lunch. A detailed program will be sent out to all registrants in early June. To register for the Retreat, please click here. Please RSVP by June 11, 2018.
