Why Faculty of Medicine?
I’ve been interested in all the sciences as far back as I can remember. However, I took most pleasure in the classes that centered around physiology, anatomy and health/wellness. It was during my first year at UofT that I first I discovered a new passion in the field of nutritional sciences.

Why this Department?
The Nutritional Sciences department has allowed me to explore areas of study that directly benefit the daily lives of people. Through their courses, I’ve been able to learn important aspects of maintaining health, applying principles of both human physiology, psychosocial factors, and food biochemistry that aren’t taught in other medically-oriented courses. Some of interesting things I’ve learned included the impact of the human mind on decision making in regards to food, how we interpret flavours and many other interesting and exiting things!

Current Research Experience:
I’ve been working at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) since the summer of 2016 as a research student. I’ve worked with 5 different clinician-scientists in the diagnostic imaging, translational medicine and interventional radiology departments. I’ve actively developed my understanding in different kinds of research, including clinical trials, observational research, and systematic reviews, meta-analyses and many more. I’ve presented my research from Sickkids both locally and internationally, through 2 electronic posters, 2 physical poster and 2 oral presentations. I’m also currently finalizing three first author manuscripts for publishing.

Future Education Plans and/or Career Goals:
I’m currently studying for the Dental Admission Test (DAT), while continuing my research projects at Sickkids and a part time position at a dentistry clinic. I plan on applying to Canadian dental schools for the 2019-2020 cycle to realize my aspirations of becoming a dentist.
